PRP Hair Restoration

Do you struggle with hair loss? Well, we have a solution for you, restoration is now very easy with the use of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). PRP is an injection into the scalp that uses the powerful growth factors in your own blood to promote hair growth. This method re-stimulates the hair follicles, causing new hair follicle proliferation and promoting regrowth and improved hair quality thereby resulting hair restoration.
Hair makes up a huge part of how we feel about ourselves, and how confident we feel when we present ourselves to the world. Thinning, patchy or balding hair can be a source of sadness, stress and even embarrassment, often making us feel less sexy and tired looking or aged.

Preparation

To decrease the chance of bruising at the injection site, please avoid all NON-PRESCRIPTION blood thinning medications and supplements for 1 week prior to your appointment. Avoid taking Aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDS) such as such as Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil and Aleve. In addition, very high doses of some Vitamins (Garlic, Ginko, Vitamin E and others) and supplements can thin your blood and increase the chance of bruising. Please notify your practitioner if you are taking Warfarin, Coumadin, Plavix, or any other blood thinners for a medical condition.

Post Care

• Try to exercise your treated muscles for 1 hours following treatment (ex. Practice frowning, raising your eyebrows or squinting). This helps to work BOTOX/DYSPORT into your muscles. Although this is thought to help, it will not impact your treatment negatively if you forget to do this.
• NO rubbing, touching, lying flat, no downward dog, cart wheels, or the horizontal mambo for approx. 3 hours after treatment. This is to avoid the risk of pressure on the treated areas (from your pillow) and to avoid the risk of having the area rubbed accidentally.
• Be assured that any tiny bumps or marks will go away within a few hours. If you need to apply make-up within 4 hours after your treatment, only use a gentle touch to avoid rubbing the treated area.
• Results of your treatment may take 14 days to take full effect. Please wait until the 14 days has passed to assess if you are pleased with your result. At this time, we ask that you return for a follow up appointment.
• BOTOX & DYSOPORT are temporary procedures, results will last approximately 3-4 months.
• Our clinic will see you in 2 weeks for a follow up. Please ensure you book this appointment if this is your first treatment for the particular area or if you have any concerns.
• If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to CALL 780-750-0852 or TEXT 587-844-2233

When will I see results and how long will they last?

  • You’ll begin to see results as soon as 24 hours after your treatment, and the lines may continue to fade for up to one week afterwards. Effects generally last 3-4 months

What happens during the Treatment

To decrease the chance of bruising at the injection site, please avoid all NON-PRESCRIPTION blood thinning medications and supplements for 1 week prior to your appointment. Avoid taking Aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDS) such as such as Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil and Aleve. In addition, very high doses of some Vitamins (Garlic, Ginko, Vitamin E and others) and supplements can thin your blood and increase the chance of bruising. What happens when the treatment stops working?

The effects of BOTOX/DYSPOT will gradually disappear until the treated area regains movement. For best results, continue treating the area every four months.

HOW DOES PRP WORK FOR HAIR LOSS

PRP contains essential proteins that stimulate natural hair growth. Due to the natural variation in quality of platelet-rich plasma, results will vary between individuals.

PRP can help to grow baby hairs, strengthen the existing hairs and thicken them. By thickening them, they take up more space and cover more of the scalp

WHY AM I LOSING MY HAIR

Hair loss can start quite suddenly and often it seems like it is without any reason. The reality is that hair loss occurs for a number of reasons including heredity/family history, hormonal changes that can be age related or brought on by other stresses, anemia, an over or under active thyroid gland, nutritional deficiencies, long term stress, anxiety and chronic lack of sleep.

It is important that you have a thorough medical, lifestyle and diet history with your primary care practitioner in order to determine causes for your hair loss. They may recommend blood tests to check for common causes of hair loss. It is important to address any underlying causes of hair loss that may exist in order to have an optimal outcome before opting for PRP hair restoration.

WHAT IS NORMAL HAIR LOSS?

Normal hair loss can be categorized as a fall rate of between 50-100 hairs daily. Although this sounds like a tremendous amount of hair loss, it is considered normal and should not cause you alarm. Actual hair loss means that the cycle of new hair growth is not keeping pace with the shredding cycle and hair starts to thin over time. Hair loss can also be caused when a hair follicle is destroyed and replaced with scar tissue.

IS PRP A NEW TREATMENT?

PRP has been around for many decades and was initially used in addressing medical concerns that required cellular regeneration and wound healing. PRP is used frequently in the fields of plastic and re-constructive surgery, oral surgery, orthopaedics, and sports medicine to help with muscle and joint tears and strains.

PRP is also now used for hair growth and re-stimulation because it is believed that the growth stimulating properties of the platelets and plasma can effectively induce activity in hair follicles that were previously inactive, thus boosting the bodies natural hair producing mechanism and making hair restoration possible without any significant risks.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT WHEN IT COMES TO PRP HAIR RESTORATION TREATMENTS?

We we will start your PRP hair restoration treatment by drawing blood from your arm. The blood will then be processed or “spun” in a centrifuge that separates the red blood cells from the Plasma – it is then injected into the scalp.

The scalp is a sensitive area to inject, so there is some discomfort to be expected, however we use various comfort measures to help minimize this. The actual time of the injection takes about 10 minutes, but you will be in our clinic for approx. 1 hour

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR PRP HAIR RESTORATION TO START WORKING?

You may start noticing changes in the strength and amount of hair loss in as little as 2 weeks. However, Full results from the treatments will usually show approximately 4-6 months after the first treatment was received. PRP hair treatment can be combined with other hair treatments which can often result in augmented results.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS DO I NEED?

We recommend to start 3 treatments 4 weeks apart to start and then reassess from there. Generally, maintenance is 1 treatment every 6 -12 months

WHAT IS THE COST?
